How to configure FoxyProxy for Chrome and Firefox with ProxyStore

If you're someone who frequently browses the internet, you may have come across a website that is blocked in your region. This can be frustrating, especially if you're trying to access important information or content. Luckily, there are tools like FoxyProxy that can help you bypass these restrictions and access the content you need. In this article, we'll explain what FoxyProxy is and how to use it.

What is FoxyProxy?

FoxyProxy is a browser extension that allows you to access websites that are blocked in your region. It does this by routing your internet connection through a proxy server located in a different region where the website is accessible. By doing this, FoxyProxy essentially tricks the website into thinking you're accessing it from a different location, which allows you to bypass any regional restrictions.

How to Use FoxyProxy

Using FoxyProxy is relatively straightforward. Here are the steps you need to follow:

Step 1: Install FoxyProxy

The first thing you need to do is install FoxyProxy on your browser as an extension. FoxyProxy is available for both Firefox and Chrome. Simply go to the respective browser's extension store, search for FoxyProxy, and install it.

For Chrome version

For Mozilla Firefox

* I personally use FoxyProxy for Firefox since it's much more complex and easier to manage then the Chrome version.

Step 2: Configure FoxyProxy

Option 1 :

Once you've installed FoxyProxy, you need to configure it to work properly. To do this, click on the FoxyProxy icon in your browser's toolbar and select "Options". This will open the FoxyProxy settings menu.

  • Click Options
  • Select the Proxies Tab from the top of the page.
  • Click Add Button

Here is where you have all the fields to fill with your proxy information such as Hostname, port, username and password, and the proxy type SOCKS5 or HTTP(S)

  • After you have input all the information required you can click the Save button located at the bottom middle of the page.

Option 2 :

Another option to add your proxies to FoxyProxy is to use the Import function of the plugin. To do so follow the next steps.

  • Instead of clicking the Proxies tab, select Import.
  • Then if you have your proxies set in a format such as hostname:port:username:password click on Import Proxy List and just paste (CTRL+V) your proxy file.
  • Click Save

Step 3:Clearing your Browsing Data

To ensure a clean connection with your proxy I would suggest first cleaning your Browsing data to remove any files, cookies, cached images, or any data that was previously stored by your browser. This helps a lot in maintaining a clean connection and to not leak any information from your device.

  • Open FoxyProxy
  • Click Options

  • Select Delete Browsing Data

  • Click OK

Step 4: Enable FoxyProxy

After you've configured FoxyProxy, you need to enable it to start using it. To do this, simply click on the FoxyProxy icon in your browser's toolbar(top right corner) and select the proxy server you want to use. FoxyProxy will then start routing your internet connection through the selected server.

Step 5: Access Blocked Websites

Once FoxyProxy is enabled, you should be able to access any website that was previously blocked in your region. Simply navigate to the website as you normally would, and FoxyProxy will handle the rest.

Conclusion

FoxyProxy is a powerful tool that can help you access blocked websites and content. By routing your internet connection through a proxy server located in a different region, FoxyProxy allows you to bypass any regional restrictions and access the content you need. If you frequently encounter blocked websites, we highly recommend giving FoxyProxy a try.
